Hundreds of stands are located there to offer you all sort of food and goods during a week and it is visited by thousands of Parisians. One of the busiest stand was the one serving crepes, a French traditional sort of pancake. You can see in these women expressions all the agony of waiting to be served.

Tokyo Palace Lovers

Vendredi, novembre 28th, 2008

The Tokyo Palace on the shores of the Seine River was built in 1937 by the Paris municipality to host the Museum of Modern Art. After a somewhat troublesome history, only about one third of its surface is currently utilized for art shows. Though there are several plans to expand it to full capacity againn, its front patio looks sometimes like a wasteland where lovers secretly meet.  (click to enlarge)

This post will start a new series called « Life Inside ». It will portray scenes seen from outside of public places such as restaurants or shops.

This first shot was taken in Le Marais where a young couple was seemingly arguing in the laundry. Were they not in agreement about which temperature to select on the wash machine ?

No blankets needed anymore

Lundi, novembre 24th, 2008

The big wheel on Place de la Concorde is back like every year end. Yet, to the surprise of many, it is now a whole new wheel with, sign of our times, modern cabins. Gone are the times where you would freeze your butt on top of the wheel facing the winter winds. Convenience won and another piece of history is gone …   (click to enlarge)

One sun, many dreams

Dimanche, novembre 23rd, 2008

In the Tuileries garden, plenty of chairs are made available to visitors for a little rest by the ponds. So last Saturday, as the sun appeared for the first time of the week, people rushed to the garden for a little rest facing the sun. Note the distance between people, just like if a non intrusion deal had been agreed between them to sleep, day dream or play love games without being interrupted. (click to enlarge)

Vendredi, novembre 21st, 2008

A two pictures act where this officer stands hesitating in front of this uncommon vehicle covered with revolutionary slogans and without a driver. He was kind enough not to fine it and went on. The driver magically appeared a few seconds after, loaded with bottles of water … or was it some kind of new revolutionary energy ?    (click on pictures to enlarge)

This very well decorated restaurant serves a great mix of salads, soup of the day, quiches and great home made desserts such as the famous Tarte Tatin or crumbles. With a little luck, you can even enjoy your meal in cozy sofas which will undoubtely tempt you to go for a little nap afterwards. Prices are a bit on the expensive side yet worth the quality, location and experience. (click on picture to enlarge)

Saint-Denis, present and future

Dimanche, novembre 16th, 2008

Saint-Denis, one of the suburbs north of Montmartre, can be compared to the Brooklyn of Paris. Yet while its past 30 years made it famous as one of the most troubled part of the city, its future is brighter as many residential buildings and company headquarters are slowly taking over the old and grey brick houses. This new construction site will soon covered with glass participating to the rebirth of once proud Saint-Denis.
