Saving Private Pierre

Mardi, avril 7th, 2009

I found this groupe of soldiers down les Champs-Elysées as they were walking with rythm and confidence. I am not sure why but this picture reminds me of the movie « Saving Private Ryan » where a squad goes to rescue the last son of a family as his three brothers were killed during the Normandy Invasion.      (click on picture to enlarge)

Yo-yo in les Invalides

Lundi, avril 6th, 2009

While his friends were playing football on the large grass areas in front of Les Invalides, this man remained hypnotized by his yo-yo.          (click on picture to enlarge)

The mobster

Dimanche, avril 5th, 2009

When I stumbled upon this man on Boulevard Pereire, it looked like he had been teleported from Al Capone’s Chicago to the quiet XVIIth arrondissement. Hopefully, it was probably simply one of the neighbour enjoying a first smoke on an early Saturday morning.     (click on picture to enlarge)

The gallant mime

Samedi, avril 4th, 2009

On the steps of the Sacré Coeur Church you will usually see a few mimes. Though they are not supposed to move much, this one could not avoid peeping at the girl walking in front of him.      (click on picture to enlarge)

Boat crashes in Boulogne

Vendredi, avril 3rd, 2009

On the main pond of the Boulogne pond, you will be able to rent small raw boats. Yet, rowing is not always an easy task so don’t be surprised to witness little crashes that, luckily, only generate laughs.     (click on pictures to enlarge)

The Eiffel Trumpet Band

Jeudi, avril 2nd, 2009

At the bottom of the Eiffel tower, this extravagant trio part of a large band was giving a show for the many tourists. Paris still enjoys hundreds of street artists that perform all day long in search for coins by the passer bys. Some of them even find fame after years playing in the street, so this is probably also one of the best way to see the public reactionto their performances     (click on picture to enlarge)three-trumpet-girls-lr.jpgLeica M8 with 85mm Jupiter at F2, ISO160

Printemps or Lafayette

Mercredi, avril 1st, 2009

On Boulevard Haussman, the two most famous department stores of Paris are located next to each other. As this shopper was starting his spree, he obviously had a tough time deciding where to start.      (click on picture to enlarge)
