The Eyes of the Seine

dimanche, octobre 11th, 2009

« Les yeux de la Seine » is a large scale exhibit on the banks of the Seine River.  JR, the artist, has spread large printed clothes over the walls of the piers to represent a dozen  women eyes. Several expressions are displayed and it opens up a lot of creative composition as one integrates them in their surrounding. In this case, this eyes seem to completely freak out at the sight of a peaceful couple taking a rest by the river. Were they telling horror stories ? (click on picture to enlarge)

The Revolution of the Hiddens

samedi, octobre 10th, 2009

There are thousands of people living in France without a residency permit. Even though they do work and even sometimes pay taxes, they can be sent off at any moment. So this afternoon, thousands took the street for a large demonstration. When the cortege went through Place la Bastille, it almost felt like another uprise was to happen; the Revolution of the Hiddens. (click on picture to enlarge)

Stairway to Heaven

vendredi, octobre 9th, 2009

I come across these two monks very often on my way home. They hold up each other during their short walk around the block of houses. Every day at the same hour, and always the same path. And this will probably go on until the day that one has to go … and climb the Stairway to Heaven.   (click on picture to enlarge)

Au Pain Quotidien

mardi, octobre 6th, 2009

One of the true French culinary experience is the Sunday breakfast with a basket full of bread and lots of mermelade to spread on it. So when in Paris, rush to the next « Pain Quotidien » and ask for their famous brunch. You will maybe share a long table with other guests but the croissants, chocolate spreads, cheese, salads and new encounters are definitely worthwile in this friendly atmosphere. You might even get a big smile from the cashier.  (click on picture to enlarge)
