Reflections in Porte Versailles

Mercredi, novembre 11th, 2009

This artwork located close to Porte Versailles combines glass screens and a spiral path. Anybody that walks through it will almost take the appearance of specters to the ones that eye the scene from outside (click on picture to enlarge)

A Sunday tale

Mardi, novembre 10th, 2009

A girl reads out loud Gombrowics’s « Le festin chez la Comtesse Fritouille », a satire on burgesses.  Young and wild, but for how many years still ? (click on picture to enlarge)

The Magic Forest

Lundi, novembre 9th, 2009

Though it looks like a scene taken in the depth of a Magic Forest, it happened downtown Paris, in the midst of the Tuileries Garden (click on picture to enlarge)

Impressed

Dimanche, novembre 8th, 2009

As the Eiffel Tower suddenly appears in the sight of this little boy, he is so overwhelmed by the heigth of the steel structure that he does not even bother to remove the Cocher’s hat that just slid on his face.  (click on picture to enlarge)

« The World » over a bridge

Samedi, novembre 7th, 2009

The French are very assiduous readers. So much that it poses no problem for that man to read his daily newspaper « Le Monde » (which translate to « The World ») while crossing the Pont de Sully Bride in the midst of rain and wind.  (click on picture to enlarge)

As this man readies to enter his house, he has a long look at the dummies of the next door store. Too bad they will never accept his invitation for a coffee.   (click on picture to enlarge)

La belle américaine

Lundi, novembre 2nd, 2009

This scene reminded me of the 1961 French movie starring  De Funès. Of course « La belle américaine » (The American Beauty) does not refer to a lady, but to a wonderful Cadillac which Funès acquires for a surprisingly low price. Eventually, he discovers that the car is loaded with gold and ends up chased by gangsters. In the case of this picture, the American taxi was parked in front of luxury hotel Crillon waiting for its own merchandise to be loaded, in this case … wealthy customers.  (click on picture to enlarge)

Queen Zombi and her disciples

Dimanche, novembre 1st, 2009

Coming back to yesterday’s Zombi day, here is a scene that looked a bit biblical to me. Queen Zombi among her disciples gets a revelation from the skies … maybe an order to march on La Bastille for a Zombi revolution ?  (click on picture to enlarge)
