A new (legal) drug ? The 50mm Summilux Asph

While a magazine proposes a debate on whether drugs should be legalized, I was lent a potential new addictive lens for the coming 6 weeks. Indeed I’ll be experimenting with one of Leica’s masterpieces, that is the 50mm Summilux asph. I should also get back my M9 soon, can’t wait to see how this combo works.  (click on picture to enlarge)

Always a good read in the morning, your blog – like the papers! The M9 50 lux asph is a fabulous combo – probably the best camera/lens pairing you can get IMO

    you are so screwed ;)

the second you put that on your M9, you’ll never take it off!

Hi Cam, just like you I guess ;)

I am not sure about that, my early feelings is that the 60mm is a more versatile lens, though bigger. Will see, my M9 will be back tomorrow !

i personally prefer your Hex… lots more character and there’s a lushness that takes it beyond digital, if you know what i mean.

glad you’re getting your M9 back! sad to say but i’ve found it to be so true: absence makes the heart grow fonder… i can’t stop stroking my M8 now that it’s returned ;)

glad you got your M8 back too !
I’ll do some testing side by side but so far on the M8 I have notice the Lux Asph is much smoother in terms of bokeh. It doesn’t for example have the double lining effect. The 60mm hexanon is more dramatic in oof and more character I think. Will see, I »ll go for a walk tonight.
