Street Photography in Paris

(Second slideshow of Chicago Series)

As a kid, Chicago only meant one thing : the city of Al Capone and his gangsters. Probably influenced by the many Hollywood movies showcasing Al Capone and the Prohibition years. Luckily, Chicago is now a modern and pretty safe city even though when one goes out at night, he might suddenly feel like he were back in the atmosphere of the 20’s. This slideshow is the result of my errances in the dark side streets and misty nights of Chicago, looking for Al.  Click here or on picture to launch slideshow.

Chicago is one of my favorite city in the US. It is clearyly a North American city with its high rise buildings and large avenues, yet the crowded downtown full of boutiques, terraces and animation do give it a little European touch. There is even a large sand beaches for the ones  looking to come back with a nice sun tan. Chicago has it all, except maybe for its long and snowy winters. Over the next couple of weeks, I will post a series of three sound slideshow on Chicago. Thanks to the Eurostar train, London is only a couple of hours away from Paris, making it a favorite destination for weekends. Just like the Champs-Elysées, the Leicester Square area seems to be home to many bachelor party. This is were I took that shot as this girl stood in the door frame as a modern Mona Lisa. I was invited to have a look within the Limousine, but I’ll keep the sight for myself ;)     (click on picture to enlarge)

This second sound slides on Barcelona  brings you in the atmosphere of Poble Sec, an immigrants neighbourhood located close to Montjuic. Opposite to the music that presupposes a violent quarter, the only weapons found are the smiles of kids and friendly inhabitants.    (click on picture to start soundslides)

I have added a new page to my blog : Around Europe. I will post there pictures or slide-shows of other cities across Europe. The first series will be about Barcelona which in many ways resembles to Paris. Indeed, its large streets, classic buildings, avant-guardist art and a certain glamour make it in my opinion the closet cousin of Paris.
