Mardi, mars 9th, 2010

As the last assaults of the winter hit Paris, people take out their warm clothes once again. In freezing wind gusts, aren’t the nose and cheeks also supposed to turn red ?  (click on picture to enlarge)

Dimanche, septembre 6th, 2009

This girl was sitting on the stairs of the hallway leading to the “Cour Carrée” of the Louvres. The look in her eyes was intriguing, almost Bellucci-esque.   (click on picture to enlarge)

Pink Scooter

Pink is back ! Over the last two years, pink has slowly taken over the population of scooter helmets in Paris. It does give a retro style … to match the vintage style scooter of course.  (click on picture to enlarge)

The imaginary date

Mercredi, juin 10th, 2009

Tonight on Les Champs-Elysées, a man elegantly dressed in tuxedo was staring at the window of a fashion boutique. Was he contemplating a gift for his soon to arrive companion or phlegmatically choosing  an imaginary date among the glamorous candidates ?   (click on picture to enlarge)

Berets forever

Mardi, mai 19th, 2009

Berets are an icon of French fashion, yet they are also part of the Frenchman stereotype : a baguette in one hand and a beret over the head. Nevertheless, it is still carried extensively in Paris, just like this young couple sitting on a stairway in Montmartre that surely did succeed in creating a nice modern “Boheme” look.      (click on picture to enlarge)

Street make up

Jeudi, avril 16th, 2009

In any large buoying city, time is always running off. It seemed to be the case for this lady as she improvised a little beauty session crossing the street in front of the Opera.    (click on picture to enlarge)

Place Vendome is the home of Paris’ most luxurious boutiques where the world’s richest come to spend fortunes. Some stores provide valet parking for their famous customers yet today did not seem a very busy day as the valet scanned the entrance of the square for an unlikely Bentley or Rolls Royce.      (click to enlarge)

The Queen of Paris

Samedi, février 28th, 2009

I usually do not take shots of homeless people as I always feel this is taking advantage of their weakness. Yet today at the end of Les Champs Elysées, I saw that woman looking at her face in a mirror with such a proud smile that I felt she was the Queen of Paris enjoying the garden just in front of President Sarkozy’s palace.

Tatie at Tati

Mercredi, février 18th, 2009

Tati is a famous budget clothing chain whose first store was opened in the 50’s close to Montmartre. Yet “Tatie”  is a familiar nickname for the family aunt, usually used by children. This old lady searching through discounted items outside the store had the look of a Tatie, just like she had just appeared magically from the 50’s for a quick visit to her nephews.     (click on picture to enlarge)
