Salt absorbs

Vendredi, juin 26th, 2009

As the fisher seller had sprayed salt on the concrete to absorb the last refuse of the day’s merchandise, it seemed to have completely absorbed this man into deep dreams.fish-shop-sleeper-paris-lr.jpgLeica M8 with 24mm Elmarit at F2.8, ISO160

Like an elephant in a porcelain store

Lundi, juin 15th, 2009

“Like an elephant in a porcelain store” is a famous French saying meaning that someone is very clumsy. It wasn’t the case of this woman that was literally dancing over the fragile tableware she had on sale.         (click on picture to enlarge)

How many looks ?

Samedi, juin 6th, 2009

The last thing you want in street photography is to have your subjects look at you and change their attitude. So you have to shoot very quickly. I thought it was the case when I took this snapshot of a terrace on Avenue Rivoli as the last sun rays of the day hit the clientele. But obviously, I got spotted. So how many people spotted the photographer ? ;)  answer below the picture     (click on picture to enlarge)

Big cat is going to get you …

Vendredi, mai 22nd, 2009

Never a good idea to be lost in your inner world in unattended streets, a big mean cat could be waiting at any corner ….        (click on picture to enlarge)

My car is cuter than yours …

Mardi, mai 12th, 2009

This is what this little kid might have been thinking as the Lamborghini driver lets the little group cross in front of him. Same color, yet the stroller was probably much more comfortable though undeniably … slower     (click on picture to enlarge)

Wifi Hacker ?

Lundi, mai 11th, 2009

I found this girl almost hidden in the shadows of the pillars supporting the Pompidou center. Was she taking advantage of an open connection coming from the center ? Not sure, though her expression showed that “I have been caught” kind of look … ;)

Service any time

Dimanche, mai 10th, 2009

This scene was shot this afternoon next to the Place Vendôme where this elegantly dressed gentleman was sitting patiently. Was the service offered a nice conversation around a cup of tea  ?

Love Paris … but spend money

Jeudi, mai 7th, 2009

There are two kind of T-shirt that you will see a lot in Paris this year. “I love NY” and “I love Paris” (which is kind of normal here). Obviously a good business for the owners of tourists stands. If you ever stumble on this girl on New York’s 5th Avenue wearing proudly her “I love Paris” shirt, take a picture and send it to me.  ;)     (click on picture to enlarge)

Invisible nudity II

Samedi, avril 18th, 2009

After the dummy of the flea market, this lightly dressed woman also seemed to struggle to get the attention of this man absorbed in his newspaper.         (click on picture to enlarge)

Killing me softly …. with a cutter

Jeudi, mars 26th, 2009

As the a promotions campaign of the FNAC department store came to an end today, workers were asked to rip off the large poster. To do so, the man slowly cut through the large ad just like if he was lacerating the exhuberant model pictured. Nevertheless, it seemed to cause more tickles than pain as the woman looks away in mischievous embarassment.        (click on picture to enlarge)

Barbe à papa

Lundi, mars 16th, 2009

Funnily, cotton candy (Barbe à papa) translates litterally to “Dad’s bear” in French as the bits ripped of it take the appearance of a long bear. This scene shows the fascination that this sweet still provokes on kids  as the little boy stares greedily at the pink candy.       (click on picture to enlarge)

Graffiti stars

Dimanche, février 8th, 2009

This original graffiti can be found in the Saint-Germain neighbourhood. While the stars do their best to attract the attention of the passers-by, this walked by switfly without even giving them a look. Pretty though for their big egos I guess.      (click on picture to enlarge)

Invisible nudity

Samedi, janvier 24th, 2009

At the flea market, you will encounter many dummies so after a few hours wandering, you might start to mix them up with human beings. Obviously, it was not the case of this man. He was politely ignoring her, leaving her in her endless perplex look.     (click on picture to enlarge)

Caddie Dog

Jeudi, janvier 22nd, 2009

Contrarily to many countries, dogs are usually accepted in most public places in France. This is not the case of food markets where they have to be bound at the entrance. This dog got the special favour at the “Le Grand Marché” to wait on the inside, yet he had to wait next to a caddie, just like if a competition was going on who was going to be picked up first.    (click  on picture to enlarge)

It’s gonna hurt badly!

Mardi, janvier 20th, 2009

This shot was taken in the Kitty O’Shea Irish Bar in the 2nd arrondissement close to Place Vendôme. Football and Rugby fans usually gather there to watch the games proposed daily on TV and enjoy the many kinds of beers. Despite the game of the day, this woman seemed to be more interested in scolding her boyfriend vigourously. Under the frightened look of t the rugbyman on the poster forecasting a harsh ending to the scene (”It’s gonna hurt badly”)           (click on picture to enlarge)

Religolo

Dimanche, janvier 18th, 2009

Back to the cold Paris January weather after a long break in the warm Southern Hemisphere.

This month will see the release of the Religolo movie which showcases the life of religious monkeys. The building in the background gives the impression of a parrallel world where Paris has suddenly become a city ruled by the Apes.    (click on picture to enlarge)
