As this man had ordered the very special Rose cocktail from the owner of this bar, his eyes were already fixed on the recipient of his little surprise.     (click on picture to enlarge)

Baguette and Beret

Samedi, août 8th, 2009

A few days ago, I commented on cliché pictures that foreigners take when they visit Paris (”High Tech Monks” entry). I guess this one could be one of them as a a man wearing a beret and eating a baguette sits by the Seine River with his fiancee.   (click on picture to enlarge)

Silent contemplation

Dimanche, juillet 26th, 2009

As the last rays of light disappear behind the clouds, this couple sits still in contemplation of the Louvre Palace and the Great Wheel. Silence speaks more than words sometimes   (click on picture to enlarge)

No light without shadows

Mercredi, juillet 22nd, 2009

As these two young persons share a moment of complicity by the Seine during Paris Plage (Paris at the Beach), an old laser saying  hangs behind them on the walls of a bridge. “There is no light without shadows” by Luis Aragon

The Rose Vendor

Dimanche, juin 28th, 2009

As this Rose street vendor neared these two girls contemplating the Seine River, not much attention was paid to him. How many flowers a day must he offer, with a no as an answer ?    (click on picture to enlarge)

A mime in love

Jeudi, avril 9th, 2009

While mimes usually stay as still as possible, this one could not refrain his emotions at the view of a cute girl passing by.    (click on picture to enlarge)

Drama at Parc Monceau ?

Mardi, février 24th, 2009

Well obviously not that dramatic as Parc Monceau is a peaceful oasis within the city. Nonetheless, it had to be quite an event for these two elder to lift their eyes off the Saturday newspaper.

Concorde Lovers

Yesterday on Place de la Concorde,  two lovers were kissing with a well-know scenery behind them. A Parisian classic I guess.    (click on picture to enlarge)

Tokyo Palace Lovers

Vendredi, novembre 28th, 2008

The Tokyo Palace on the shores of the Seine River was built in 1937 by the Paris municipality to host the Museum of Modern Art. After a somewhat troublesome history, only about one third of its surface is currently utilized for art shows. Though there are several plans to expand it to full capacity againn, its front patio looks sometimes like a wasteland where lovers secretly meet.  (click to enlarge)

One sun, many dreams

Dimanche, novembre 23rd, 2008

In the Tuileries garden, plenty of chairs are made available to visitors for a little rest by the ponds. So last Saturday, as the sun appeared for the first time of the week, people rushed to the garden for a little rest facing the sun. Note the distance between people, just like if a non intrusion deal had been agreed between them to sleep, day dream or play love games without being interrupted. (click to enlarge)

The Tuileries Jam

Dimanche, octobre 26th, 2008

The FIAC (Modern Art Fair) took place this weekend in Paris and one could walk through the Tuileries Garden and have a look at several artworks showcased in the main avenue.  To avoid the mass of visitors, this couple had found an isolated bench under the trees to enjoy a little jam session.

Love… and friends

Mardi, septembre 30th, 2008

This scene took place at Place de Clichy, next to the red zone of Montmartre. This couple was waiting for the start of a movie session in front of a theater. Their passionate kiss came as a perfect illustration of the poster glued on the ticket boot whose title translates to ”My loves, my friends”. This even led me to wonder if the person standing patiently in the entrance was one of them…

The Défense Lovers

Mercredi, septembre 10th, 2008

Tonight was the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Défense neighbourhood in Paris where all the high risechbuildings are located as well as the giant Arch (which is bigger than the Arch of Triumph). While thousands were heading back from a firework display, this couple was sitting a few blocks away in a flurry of perspectives.
