Reportage – The making of
The Littoral Series
This year I enrolled in a week long photography course in the city of Arles led by Eric Bouvet, a photo reporter that won several prestigious awards during his long career, mostly as a war photographer. Together with 11 other students, Eric taught us how to approach and build a reportage from daily shoots to the final editing on the theme of the French littoral. So here are a series of writings on this week full of teachings and experiences.
I) Introduction – Lady of the Ferry
II) On Engagement – Pétanque at Beauduc
III) On gear – The Gipsy campers
IV) On cropping – Marseille harbour kids
V) On consistency of look – The fisherman and the kid
VI) On post processing – Miss Gloria
VII) On light – The fishermen harbour
VIII) On patience – Pierrot & Friends
IX) On deleting - Sunrise & Sunset
X) The final cut – 12 hours
